About AFGE Local 3614


Local 3614 of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), AFL-CIO, represents the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission employees in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. (Field Office only).

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), created by the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964, is charged with enforcing the principal federal statutes that prohibit employment discrimination, providing oversight for the government's EEO complaint adjudication process, and performing the government's EEO appellate function.

There are about 200 employees in the Local 3614 bargaining unit. Local 3614 employees work with skill and dedication to ensure that no American suffers discrimination on the job due to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, or disability. The membership consists Investigators, Investigator Assistants, Mediators, Administrative Judges, Attorneys, Computer Specialists, Legal Technicians, Paralegals, Program Assistants, and Automation Support Assistants.

Local 3614's dedicated members serve its membership proudly. Local 3614 officers and stewards are uniquely qualified to represent its members because they are EEO professionals working in the EEOC everyday. In addition to their job skills, these officers and stewards through training and experience are skilled union representatives. Each have received training on grievance procedures and the laws and regulations of the Federal Labor-Management Relations Act, including specialized training at AFGE National Headquarters.
